From Buitenverwachting and its award-winning wines to Beau Constantia and Chef Liam Tomlin’s inspired cuisine at Chefs Warehouse that sits high above the vines, delivering spectacular views to accompany the feasting that ensues. For the activity enthusiasts, the Constantia Greenbelt mountain biking and hiking trails are only two minutes from the property for hours of endless explorations of the magnificent natural surroundings. Exhilarating tree-top adventures can be enjoyed at Acrobranch, in the Constantia Nek forest, where panoramic views of the region are taken in as you zip-line and swing from branch to branch. For some market fun and frolics, visit the Hout Bay Market – only a twenty-minute drive away – every Friday, Saturday and Sunday where live music, art, craft, food and fashion is aplenty. Or the Heritage Market at Constantia Uitsig where you’ll find the best ice-cream you can dream up at Kristen’s Kick-ass ice cream well deserved after an exhilarating hour spent at The Bike Park.

Some of the best beaches in the Cape are also the best beaches in the world, several of which you’ll find just a short drive from Buitenzorg. The beach at Hout Bay is ringed by mountains and dominated by The Sentinel, Llandudno Beach is wild, rugged and quiet, and Muizenberg, an untapped tourist spot, is perfect for families. Well known for its brightly painted beach huts, Muizenberg beach is warmer, it’s popular with surfers, and the long stretch of white sand makes it an ideal long beach walk.

When it comes to art and its influence on Cape Town, we count ourselves lucky for the diversity and cornucopia of museums, private galleries, street murals, and pavement curations that abound in our city. If the works within Buitenzorg itself do not satiate your appetite for art entirely, then the world-renowned Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is no more than a thirty-minute drive from the property, where the museum’s galleries are constantly rotating with temporary exhibits as well as a dedicated space for permanent collections. And finally not forgetting the fashionistas out there, treat yourself to something special to take back home, and take a stroll along Long Street, and Kloof Street, equally famous for their nightlife.
